He is a very talented jewellery maker. I am more interested in his early works in 1930s. It shows a kind of minimalism, and the B&W photo shooting is very clear and direct. Most of his nice photo shooting cannot be found on line, and they were documented in some old books.

TRACY FEATHERSTONE
When I was watching Phyllida Barlow’s exhibition, all of the work really remains me of Tracy Featherstone’s wearable sculpture. They all used wood material and created some kinds of hollow space. Thus the pieces were clearly dedicated to the idea of structure.
It is easily to find that a large mount of geometric shape are being used, especially triangle. Triangle is the most stable shape, thus I can use it in my piece as well. I am aiming to interpret the thought that universal connection is ubiquitous and stable. For this reason, I will use triangle shape.

This two art pieces have a similarity that is that they all interpreted with the idea of intimacy. These three researches came from completely different source, and they eventually met to this same point. I was surprised with how much I can achieve when I am focus on research, and the whole journey became more narrative.

My whole research started with Naomi Filmer’s work, and I thought my final piece might be ended up with something like her design, the piece links different body organ. But I realized it requires more metal workshop techniques to make such a nice and delicate metal piece. I still found that I am convinced by her work.

Anton Albarez’s works influenced me immediately. His idea about rolling rope around wood stick and create texture was replicated in my wad wax wool ring experiment. I rolled wool on the surface of the cocoon-shaped ring and represent the texture of cocoon.

I cannot say that I was really inspired by Kei Ito, but her idea of using some light and transparent material is really like my favourite designer Nora Fok’s. This time, I used natural materials, which means if I am trying to make a second piece, it will be different from the first one.
This piece also interpreted the feeling that this piece was growing on the body.

NORA FOK
Nora Fok is an artist who expresses her ideas in a personal and distinctive way. She has a unique ability to translate ideas into delightful delicate and intricate compositions which one immediately associates with her.
Nora works at home in Hove,on the sunny south east coast of England, she uses no mechanical equipment, all her work is carried out by hand processes, with only basic tools.
She is intrigued by the world around her; she also asks questions and tries to find answers to them. She is fascinated by different aspects of nature, structure, systems and order, and the mysteries and magic which she sets out to capture in her work. They are often quite complicated requiring many hours, days or weeks to produce and she has the necessary dedication to see her ideas through. She likes to draw attention to the very ordinary to make something special by presenting it in her own way. Her approach is not scientific; she combines her discoveries intuitively with her personal technical skills to produce her unique pieces.

SOME EXPRIMENT OF THE TOPIC ""CONNECTION"
The pictures on the right were from a student named Luis Hernan in university of Newcastle. He visualized the image of Wi-Fi signal. The embroidery pieces on the left were samples I made.

I had no idea about any experiment until I found the jewellery designer Amy Peace Buzzard. I fell in love with her works at first sight. Her work really inspired me, and I made a whole collection, three pieces for that topic. Till nowadays, I am still very much satisfied with these three piece.

Reproducing the painter himself on the surface of the painting as he looks at another painting means bearing witness to the moment in which the painting comes true, the paint in question, that is, the one before the painter needs no longer to be the vehicle of an image, as it is involved in the contextual vision of the moment proceeding its individual.

This gallery was on the list that my tutor Nicola recommended me to have a look. Many excellent jewellery designers exhibited their works there, and some of them could be very constructive for me. Unfortunately, they were not being helpful for this project. I will still save it for ”raining days”.
